A football matchday programme is far more than just paper with team lineups and statistics. It is a snapshot of an era, capturing the state of society at a precise moment—just thirty minutes before the opening whistle.
Browsing through vintage publications, we realized how fascinating it is to observe details that might initially seem insignificant. Local advertisements, announcements, visual styles, and notes to supporters—these subtle touches gradually shift year by year, ultimately revealing monumental historical and cultural changes. Programmers from different eras offer a living history of specific cities, regions, and countries, told entirely through the prism of football.
Our Archive and Approach
At the heart of our project lies a vast personal collection of over 20,000 original matchday programmes from around the globe. On this foundation, we are currently building an independent research initiative at the intersection of football history and anthropology.
